Harrison Ford suffered a ! bad ankle injury on the London set of "Star Wars: Episode VII" on Thursday — severe enough to have him air lifted to a nearby hospital.

"Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today," a spokesperson for Disney said in a statement. "He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care."

The 71-year-old actor is reprising his role as Han Solo for the latest installment of the hit franchise.

The hydraulic door from the Millenium Falcon, the iconic spaceship that Han Solo pilots, gave way and injured Ford, possibly fracturing his ankle, a source told The Hollywood Reporter.

"We were called just after 5 p.m. to reports of a 71-year-old man being injured in an incident believed to involve a garage door," a spokesman for the Thames Valley police told BBC News.

"The man was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."

The highly anticipated J.J. Abrams-directed film, which is reportedly set 30 years after "Return of The Jedi," also welcomes back Carrie Fisher, reprising her Princess Leia role, along with other original stars Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

Aside from the veteran actors, the movie brings on a slew of newer Hollywood faces like Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.

Despite Ford's reported injury, Disney reassured, "Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates."
