The 45-year-old comedian, who suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken leg following a June 7 car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, has left the hospital for a rehabilitation center to begin his treatment.
"Tracy has been transferred to an undisclosed rehab center, where he is expected to remain for the next few weeks," a rep for the former 30 Rock star said in a statement. "While he is continuing to show signs of improvement, he still has a long way to go. He and ] wanted to publicly express their deepest gratitude to everyone at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for the unbelievable care and attention they provided him."
On the night of the accident, a limo bus Morgan was traveling in along with six other friends was overturned in a six-car collision. Morgan's mentor, , died in the crash while two other passengers were injured.
Morgan's assistant, Jeffrey Millea, has recently been upgraded to fair condition, while hospital comic Ardie Fuqua remains in critical condition.
Since then, Kevin Roper, the Wal-Mart truck driver accused of causing the collision, has pleaded not guilty to one count of vehicular homicide and four counts of assault by auto. If convicted, Roper, 35, could face 18 months of prison for each of the assault charges, while his vehicular homicide charge carries a five- to 10-year prison sentence. He is currently free on $50,000 bail.
