LinkHarrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming Thursday on the set of "Star Wars: Episode VII."
The actor, who is reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in J.J. Abrams' upcoming film, was taken to a local hospital to treat the injury, according to a statement issued by Disney Thursday.
Filming reportedly will continue as planned while Ford recuperates.
Scheduled for release in Dec. 18 2015, "Star Wars: Episode VII" takes place 30 years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi," with original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker joining Ford as part of the ensemble cast.
Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and newcomer Daisy Ridley, in addition to Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, performance capture expert Andy Serkis and venerable Swedish thespian Max von Sydow, will also star in "Episode VII" as will Lupita Nyong'o, who earned an Oscar for supporting actress earlier this year for her heart-wrenching turn in "12 Years a Slave," and Gwendoline Christie, who plays the towering fighter Brienne of Tarth on HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Earlier this month, rumors began to swirl that Han Solo might again be piloting the Millennium Falcon after photos that appeared to feature the famous ship were leaked online.
Abrams took to Twitter to offer a tongue-in-cheek response.
"I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII and making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie," tweeted Abrams from the account for his "Bad Robot" film company.

The only catch? The note on which the message had been written seemed to be sitting atop the holo-chess board from the inside of the Falcon.
The game board is the site of a near-clash between Chewbacca and R2-D2 in "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" before C-3PO intervenes and calmly instructs his robot compatriot to "let the Wookiee win."
