Prince Harry Lookalike Jokes He 'Should Be Punished' For Impersonating Royal

Prince Harry lookalike Matthew Hicks' reality dating show I Wanna Marry Harry premiered on Fox last night (May 20) and the red headed "royal" has now spoken out about the whole thing, joking that he should be locked up for impersonating the Prince.

The new reality TV show sees a group of 25 women fighting for the chance to bag the royal, who they think is the real deal and Matthew has now joked that he should be punished for pretending to be someone he's not.

"As far as I was aware, impersonating a member of the royal family was treason and I'm pretty sure the punishment for that was being locked in the Tower of London," Hicks told Reuters.

Matthew was reportedly approached after producers spotted him on a celebrity lookalike website, and he was then given the "ultimate makeover."

The dating show sees Hicks persuade the girls over five weeks and a series of dates, that he really is the "Party Prince", before eventually revealing his actual identity to the one girl left on the show that makes it to the end.

"There was a lot of weight on my shoulders, they had put a massive budget on this, but I was never really too worried about not pulling it off," Matthew said of the Fox show. "It was just down to being genuine and charming and getting the girls to like me."

Despite Matthew fooling the ladies who are hoping to bag themselves a royal, he says that he doesn't think that it is mean or deceiving to anybody, despite his real identity not being revealed until the end.

"They put themselves in this situation," he said. "They're not weak, mentally fragile girls who especially might break down, and at the end of the day we're all there for a laugh."

And what would the real Prince Harry think of the show? "I think he'd think it was quite funny," Hicks added.
