Law enforcement sources have told The Times that ¿The Shield¿ actor Michael Jace has confessed to shooting his wife to death.
"The Shield" actor Michael Jace confessed to shooting his wife to death Monday night at their home in Hyde Park, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.
The actor, 51, is accused of shooting his 40-year-old wife, April, multiple times about 8:30 p.m. Monday. She had arrived at the house in the Hyde Park section of South Los Angeles about 10 to 15 minutes earlier after picking up the couple's sons from baseball practice, Det. Sal LaBarbera told The Times.
Los Angeles police said in a statement that the motive for the shooting "is believed to be domestic violence." Neighbors reported hearing the couple arguing just before the shots rang out, KNBC-TV reported.
The two young children of Michael Jace were home when their mother was shot and killed and Jace was arrested in the case, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.
"They were not physically hurt, but obviously their emotions are running high," homicide Det. Sal LaBarbera told KTLA. "Two young children that lost their mom and their dad is in jail, most likely will be in prison for this."
Jace was being held on $1 million bail, police said.
Biola University expressed shock and sadness over the death of April Jace, a financial aid employee at the school who Los Angeles police say was shot and killed Monday night by her husband, "The Shield" actor Michael Jace.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Biola President Barry H. Corey said the La Mirada campus was "obviously shocked and saddened by this terrible news, to lose a wonderful colleague, mother and friend."
Jace is best known for his role in the FX television drama "The Shield," as Los Angeles Police Detective Julien Lowe, a Christian who is conflicted about his sexuality.
Jace also played Michael Jordan in the 1999 Fox Family Channel unauthorized biography, "Michael Jordan: An American Hero."
