Paul McCartney is scrapping his entire Japan tour because of illness.
The former Beatle got a virus last week and canceled several concerts, apologizing online to fans. On Tuesday, it was announced that the rock vet would have to put off the remaining shows. Spokesperson Perri Cohen said in a statement that McCartney, 71, "is still not feeling better and this cancellation is unavoidable. He was hoping to be better, but the doctors have ordered him complete rest. Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down."
Cohen added, "All possibilities to find a solution to reschedule these shows as soon as possible are being explored."
In his own statement, McCartney noted, "I was really looking forward to playing in Tokyo again after we had such an amazing time here in November. So to cancel this show as well as the National Stadium shows is hugely disappointing for me as well. I'd like to thank my Japanese fans for their love, messages of support and understanding."
He added, "I hope to see you all again soon," and signed off, "Love, Paul."
McCartney's scheduled shows included one set for Wednesday at Nippon Budokan hall, where the Beatles performed during their first Japan tour in 1966. He is still set to play in Seoul on May 28 at Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium, followed by 19 U.S. performances.
